I did not know this before Tactics decided to teach me. Wtf, Tactics, why must you use kanji for everything. EVERYTHING. They use kanji for まだ, for gods' sake. what is wroooooong with these people.
I like the inherent etymology, and am entertaining the vague idea that dirty words generally come from the lower classes i.e. people who work with animals, but at the same time I'm getting tired of seeing kanji for shit like 貴方. That is just excessive, yo.
I guess that Tactics is as much of a treat to read in japanese? It's already turned out nutty in english. Maybe Square didn't care too much with that one on both fronts and had a whole bunch of people write the actual dialogue for the script.
No no, it's coherently written and a native Japanese person would be fine with it. I guess a comparatively similar idea would be faux-medieval? Like a Japanese person going 'wtf does thou mean' and not being able to find it in a normal dictionary. ~Ish.
