One Piece: 120-129, in one go.

Finished the Alabasta arc.

I... I don't have much to say.

We met Vivi in episode... 62? That sounds right. Episode 62. She's been with us for sixty-seven episodes. Over half the series.

Sixth time, by the way.

...okay that was a lie. I have a LOT to say.

ROBIN. She's been around since ep67, come to think of it, though her major part's only really started from Rainbase. Did she PLAN this? She did two things that the series deliberately didn't explicate: saved Igaram, and gave Luffy the antidote to Crocodile's poison. She blew up Igaram's ship why? To chase them out. Make them a little desperate. Give them the Eternal Pose to the goldfish shit and get them moving along. Luffy didn't follow her script.

What next? She shut up about Sanji. And again when Mr. Prince called. And AGAIN when she saw him going into the casino and didn't stop him. Next? Pulled Luffy out of the sand and handed him off to Pell. Next? Told Cobra who he was, I guess- no. that wasn't really important, what was important there was her Zoro moment. Luffy drank all the water and blobbed out, and she laughed. She couldn't HELP it. But that of course wasn't part of her plan. WAS it a plan? What'd she expect to do once she read the glyph and Croc turned on her, even supposing she'd been able to kill him there? Anyway I think she was aiding Vivi and Luffy so that they'd at least hinder Croc long enough for her to get away. ...right? Or was she telling the truth when she told Vivi she just couldn't help herself?

One way or another, she didn't HAVE to give Luffy the antidote.

Hey, y'know what? Never did find out what Croc wanted nukes for. (NUKES, jezus. I'm ranting to the LJ 'What does he WANT' and the answer turns out to be NUCLEAR WEAPONRY unexpected what. Anyways.) Was it just for the sake of power itself? World domination? I suppose it doesn't really matter only, uh... what did Robin want?

「あんたの目的はいったい何なの??」「。。。さぁね。」...even now that above anything else echoes in my memory. Vivi asked, and she sounded so... resigned.

Oh, Vivi. Gonna miss her. That feast they had, with the guards staring and twitching and then eventually busting into laughter, how awesome was that, that everyone around Vivi got to learn the same thing she did- dignity just does not hold up under continued assault from this bunch. Speaking of lack of dignity, Igaram for the WIN.

Bon Clay. Boggle. Good use of juxtaposition that was, with Jango and Fullbody a reminder that Bon isn't TOTALLY out of the blue as a character, even if he IS the most wacked of them all. OKAMA WAY. boggle. He's a... he's a pirate, is what he is. Got a damn good crew behind him, too! How many crews happily strew sakura petals across your monologue scene? Maybe he'll subvert Jango and Fullbody and they'll escape and show up somewhere down the line. ...I'm pretty neutral about him now. We'll see.

Hey. I wonder why Zoro got a bounty but not anyone else. I guess Smoker and Tashigi's report would've made him look the worst aside from Luffy himself? I guess...

oh, the Marines. H'lo, Hina, I've seen your name around the fandom before. Odd duck, you are. Third person what. Gee, I hope Smoker's gonna be okay (haha. Didn't expect to say that.) what with the lack of justice and bitches at HQ and all. He was really, really cool. The Marines in the end did what no one else could- they convinced the Alabastan people that Crocodile was the cause of it all. I hope Tashigi knows that. Might be some small comfort.

...I'm going through the LJ redoing tags, as I decided I need one just for One Piece, and I find this comment from Kevin:

"FYI, once you get to episode 130 or so, you want to skip about the next fifteen episodes. More crappy filler."

I'm thinking I can deal with that, for at least a few eps. These last twenty or thirty have been intense.

god, Vivi yelling from the clock tower. So painful. Misa Watanabe, huh. Vivi's voice acting throughout was fine but not spectacular, not until that scene when she gave it all she had.

...gasp. I just realized. I don't have any idea what happens next. Obviously Robin joins the crew, but I mean...

I'm sailing into unknown waters now. I'm unspoiled for the series for here on out.

I don't know how I could BE any happier.

*addendum for episode 130: HAHAHA, well that explained a lot! Nice wrap-up, what. Robin just kinda WALKS IN, I'm not sure if I'm really happy with that. But truth is, Luffy consented first. Without bribery or any of the other tricks.

...Is she even capable of sounding trustworthy?

also, Pell's back what. I'm not sure about THAT at all, because c'mon he BLEW UP IN MIDAIR but hey! Everything is better in Alabasta. I seriously thought it never would be, and it is. Hooray.

Couple pages of spoilers behind that cut. As per normal.

Noes! Six days until next batch for me. ;.;

Nukes?! Is that what the weapon Crocodile was looking for translates to?

And no one ever dies in this series. No matter how certain their death may have seemed.

Well, it's called Pluton. Named after a god, they say. Not after plutonium at all, nooo. Weapon that can destroy a whole island? Can't remember if there was a mushroom cloud in the explosion shown while they were talking about it, but on some level it hardly matters- when you have a massive one-shot-annihilation bomb that allows you to take over the world, there's very little else the creator can be talking about. :D

Yeah, Pell's "not-death" bothered me as well, 'cause it was so dramitic and then he just magically didn't die. Oh well, no one dies in One Piece, hehe.

PS. Zoro's bounty is because of Whisky Peak, right? I was pretty sure they said that... maybe they say it later...

Blown up in midair what. They did! Said in ep 130 it was because of Whiskey Peak & the defeat of Das Bones, aka Mr. 1.
