...South Dakota can't really turn back time, can it? It can't really go right back to shotgun weddings and coathanger abortions and, and it disturbs me so much that there actually exist people in power, elected people with a real voter base, who are actually trying to reverse time. What insanity IS this?
I guess what scares me the most is the thought that they might, for however short a time, actually succeed.

Date: 2006-03-10 01:57 pm (UTC)I just saw Sarah Weddington speak a few months ago (she argued Roe v. Wade) and that was basically the gist of her exhortation. Our generation has /got/ to be galvanized. Thing is, I guess most of us weren't, because besides the epidemic of typcial self-absorption, none of us have grown up with women dying from botched homemade abortions and the like.
But the more they keep this up, the more of it we'll see.
