Air travel // Backdated

An hour's worth of human dignity later, I'm through the international-transfer security in Beijing Airport. That was astoundingly unpleasant.

I admit much of it was watching the guy directly in front of me, a career musician if there ever was one, with purple shoes and a titanium Apple Powerbook stuffed into the front pocket of his electric guitar case, on his way from Bangkok to New York. He wore a baggy overshirt with four pockets and cargo pants with a dozen more, and each pocket had something metal in. Spare change, foil-wrapped nicotine gum, three pack cigs, this and that and on and ON and on.

The guy clearly did not know shit from airport security, so now I feel kinda sorry for him that his first real experience was in freakin' Beijing. Although you'd think, he got on the plane in Bangkok, maybe he'd have caught a clue then?

Oh yes, and while it's on my mind:

When I unite the world under my velvet-clad iron fist, anyone who applies perfume in a crowded economy-class airplane cabin will be squirted with water by the flight attendants.

If the flight has more than five hours to go, they will be doused.

If the flight has more than five hours to go, the legroom is such that we are all packed in like sardines, AND there are more than two babies on board, the perfumed offender will be summarily deplaned.

ps Hey, guyneighbor? I know short legroom sucks, believe me. But having such a wide stance that you invade your neighbor's personal space, that is not the answer. And it's just good for you that you didn't get offended when I nudged you and told you to go lean on the window, because you were not falling asleep on me.

pps One-Outs? Kind of a terrible show. Mind games and baseball, sure, but do they have to take an episode and a half for one mind game? Or are they just being dips.

Yup. Yup. And I don't think it's anybody's fault, but maybe I'm also just observing that in general, blaming does not help.

Okay, that's not totally true. Put another way, it's almost everybody's fault. But whatever. The point is these stories are not interesting and doing almost anything feels like dragging cinderblocks through mud.

Geez, thank you, that makes me feel better, seriously. I don't know what else there is there except sheer stubbornness, and that's. Not enough to be fun.

And. yeah. They really do. CW is all the more chore-ish when I have games that are genuinely fun, where I can go and every day there is something new and great to play with that I like.

Or every week, or two weeks, in E12, but that's because E12 moves slowly and that can also be nice.
