arksterToday, Grandia 2 went insane.
I'm starting to think my categorization of Grandia II as the misshapen, awkward child of FFX and Xenogears was more apt than I'd previously suspected.
Also, what the FUCK. Lol space? Lol space. Cue religious zealotry! *SPLURTCH* Bye, religious zealotry! "THIS IS NOT A GOOD PLAN." So instead let's go TO THE MOOOOOOON!! And then die. And then apocalypse. Roan's new haircut is made of dork and mama's boy. Now let's have some Xenogearsian reunion with mildly characterized NPCs, just so you remember them in time to watch them die horrible deaths! This is still somewhat effective as a source of angst, mind you, but it's hard for Grandia II to really drive it home when the last game did it by warping them into shrieking blobs of fused FETUS which you then had to BURN TO DEATH.

Oh shit THE EYE OF SAUR-er, VALMAR IS WATCHING YOU. So run like a bitch! OH HAY WAIT last-ditch attempt at stuffing in exposition! Let's go see dead people. But first! ANOTHER GREEN DUNGEON. Dun-dun-dunnn!

Nobody's paying enough attention to Elena, IMO. Which is odd, since before this I'd thought Elena was getting altogether too much preaching time. But now that she's actually had the experience of losing all her will to live, everybody's too busy to care and this is vaguely unsettling. Ryudo is losing coherency at an alarming rate. Tio is a BUCKET O' ANGST.
I thought it was disturbing and more than a little sick when the game gave me this special item to "give me back" all the SC I spent on Mareg. I'm not really too clear on why. But I didn't use it.
