RE: The Mentalist, Episode 1
May. 16th, 2010 10:10 pmWell, I was absolutely on board until the last fifteen seconds, when the melodrama overwhelmed my suspension of disbelief. Really, guys? He's been sleeping there under that for five years? In his work suit?
No, honey. No. He turns up pressed and presumably odor-free to work every day, and people as unhealthily obsessed as Bruce Wayne need a butler to manage that. Sherlock Holmes has Watson and Mrs. Hudson and he still doesn't pull it off. That solitary production of a veneer of coping, not the Holmesian powers, is what makes Patrick a little too superpowered for me to swallow his pitch as the Anti-psychic.
That said, writing? A+. Especially enjoying Cho. He is great. Would that all exposition devices were so charmingly blunt about it.
