Adorable Backwoods Elementary threw me a farewell party today. There was a quiz game about me ([What's Lina-sensei's favorite food? Favorite color? What's her dream for the future? What movies does she like?]), they sang a song, they presented me with amazing adorable construction-paper cards made by each class, and then each student stood up and said a few words in thanks. I was overwhelmed.
This is the school with twelve students, each cuter than the last. We played cops n' robbers for almost an hour afterwards.
The girl who manages school finances told me that as someone her age, it was really encouraging to her to see me go. So it struck me, yeah: I'm 24. I'm ending a year in Japan and going to India.
Yes. I want to be here, doing these things, now. I want to open blinding doors and step into the unknown.
I trust my luck and reflexes yet, to keep me from stepping wrong and breaking my neck.
