Aug. 31st, 2006 12:29 amSo the activity-thing turned out to be a lot of fun! We were split into groups of about 40 or 50 and set various silly tasks. There was a speed competition for this, but us being the older wiser transfer group we just kind of ambled along from station to station.
My personal contribution: there was a girl sitting onstage in the gym, and we had to make her laugh. I stepped up and told the dead-frog-on-a-string joke. Yes, that one. Thank you, Icyforums. Thank you, Evil!Sam.
She cracked up. And the best thing was, there were so many people and the echo was so bad nobody else could hear it! So people kept asking me to re-tell it throughout the evening, and I added variants and mixed it up a bit and met quite a few new faces.
After it was over I and three others who'd been more or less cohesive throughout the night went out for dessert. I ended up getting second dinner, hello thar metabolism. And then, we did something that is I think becoming a tradition for me.
We all went back to my room and watched Special Duty Combat Unit Shinesman.
This is seriously my Bonding With New People movie. I think I've pulled it out every year I've started in a dorm, and once or twice in club besides. Once or twice a year is just about the right frequency to watch it, too. ♥
I really want an mp3 of that ending song. I like it quite a bit. You what else I want? One Piece/Shinesman icons. Usopp as Shinesman Sepia. Nami wishing she just had a shotgun. Sanji has a date with Turkish twins! And Zoro must live to drive his Montage again.
Sent postcards today. ♥
You know, for a day when I sat in coffee at breakfast and sat in soup at dinner, it's been pretty damn good.
