May. 8th, 2006
So, to recap what I've learned:
May. 8th, 2006 10:28 pm-Orange peels are good for marmalade, except for those who find it too bitter in any case.
-They can also be candied or grated to use in baking.
-Only my grandmother eats them straight up.
-A little wine does a bit of relief for tension headaches, but doesn't make them go away.
-I'm a lightweight.
-Having special relaxation powers unlocked only by wine would be a nice, if silly, superpower. Imagine the superhero: The Lush. Ohno, lookout! Here comes her nemesis Captain Prohibition! Bum-bum-bumm.
The headache is gone! Being outside and breathing air not heavily tainted by floral perfume helped quite a bit. Having tea with actual intellectually stimulating conversationalists also helped- I've had tea with any number of people over the past few days but mostly it's been the same banalities repeated ad nauseam.
Adding things I just learned at dinner tonight:
-Vermouth is some STRONG stuff. I coughed on the slightest sip.
-Red wine is GREAT with meatloaf, and I'm not the slightest bit floaty after that. Is white wine stronger?
-According to my grandmother, raw orange peel is ALSO good after being soaked in vermouth. Hey, whatever floats her boat.
Physically, I'm feeling really nice. Having a gigantic headache lifted like that really feels wonderful, because I still have the memory of the pain to compare with the current relief. I joked around at dinner and made both elderly ladies of the house laugh. Feel as if I should be guilty about being so cheerful, really, but part of the reason I'm here is to bring some cheer. So. I suppose I feel ambiguous about feeling good.
Tomorrow I need to find a jewelers'. Having both watches broken is a bit much.
